Intended to replace the Living Bible, this translation lost some of the zest, but gained a great deal in accuracy. It is also quite readable. It improves on the Living Bible by means of a translation committee of scholars who are expert in the source languages rather than a single individual.
I wanted to write a quick note here as this relates to my study tonight, as well as illustrating quite a number of translation problems.
