He prefers the NIV and NRSV with a nod to the NET.

I agree with a number of his sentiments, though I think this list is too narrow. I am more audience driven in my recommendations. All translations have renderings that are less than the best, certainly from my viewpoint, but generally from any student’s viewpoint. The question always needs to be tied both to content and audience.
